Pictorial Romances #8 - Matt Baker art, cover & reprint

Pictorial Romances #8 st. john golden age 1950s romance comic book cover art by Matt Baker
Matt Baker
Pictorial Romances v1 #8, 1951 - Seeking glamor and wealth, Marilyn chooses to date a local racketeer over a young detective. Like other romance stories, plenty of dialogue and narration leaves less room for the artwork. Matt Baker does better than most working within those confines. His supple drawings meet expectations and still excel to that of his peers. This story was later reprinted in Teen-age Romances #39. This issue also includes "I Stole Boyfriends", a Baker tale first printed in Teen-Age Diary Secrets #4 (original title "Breaking Hearts Was My Hobby"). Other artists in this golden age comic include Chuck Miller. This is 8 of 21 Pictorial Romances issues by Baker.
